Hello there! My name is Daniel and I am from Germany. I moved to Finland two years ago for studies, life and to be a part of the ever-growing gaming industry. It was also two years ago when I first dreamt about a position at Rovio, a cool working place full of creative minds. This summer, my dreams became reality and I couldn’t be any happier than to be a part of the amazing flock. Within this Blog, I will share with you my experience as a Summer Trainee in the Fan Engagement and Community team and give you exciting insights into the everyday activities of delighting the most amazing people – our fans!

Hey, It’s me in the office!

My life as a Summer Trainee started with taking in all of the overwhelming impressions that the office complex in Espoo has to offer. Colorful big and bright rooms, open working spaces filled with lots of people enjoying the work they are doing and, of course, Angry Birds and Bad Piggies everywhere. Because of Rovio’s size, I’m still learning names, but since everyone here is so open minded and contact friendly, meeting new people and having a chat is a delightful piece of cake. One can easily pick up a lot of information on what’s going on in each of the company’s diverse areas.

So what am I actually doing in my position? Well, the short answer is that I’m communicating directly with our fans! That means that I stay close to our community and act as the voice of our different products, connecting to the folks on Facebook, Twitter and through all sorts of other channels. I laugh with them, entertain them, tease them, inform them, help them and – most importantly – I’m there for them.

Right now, I’m SO excited about this whole thing actually happening, even though I haven’t yet fully realized that I am working for Rovio. That initial excitement is now, after three weeks, slowly giving way to more tasks and more responsibilities across the company. I won’t really tell you much more at this moment, just stay tuned for my upcoming posts and enjoy this ride together with me!
